The price of beer, the second-largest alcohol market in Korea, is set to rise soon.
“We are reviewing a price increase,” an official at Korea’s leading beer company OB Beer told Yonhap news agency.
“Nothing is definite as to how much the rise will be or when it will happen.”
Reports have claimed that the company told has advised wholesalers that the price may increase 5 to 6 percent.
The reports also said beer production had increased because wholesalers were trying to stock up.
The company has not confirmed the reports.
It has been customary that when OB Beer raises prices, Hitejinro and Lotte Liquor follow.
The last time prices increased was in August 2012, when OB Beer increased factory prices for Cass, OB Golden Larger and other beer products by 5.89 percent.
Hitejinro also increased its prices by 5.93 percent.
