TraditionalSaturday Performances National Gugak CenterThroughout 2019 Every Saturday at 3 p.m., the National Gugak Center holds a performance showcasing traditional Korean music and dance. This series will take place all throughout 2019. Each week the series will exhibit the works of various gugak artists. Classical ConcertsGyeonggi Philharmonic Master Series IX: Beethoven and Brahms Seoul Arts Center May 31 Founded in 1997, the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra has performed all over the world including China and the U.S. At this performance they will be performing works of Beethoven and Brahms, led by Maestro Massimo Zanetti. Zanetti is an Italian conductor who joined the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra in 2018 as the music director. He has also worked with other world-famous ensembles such as the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and the Russian National Orchestra. Under his leadership, the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra performs 10 major concerts per year. Pianist Cho Jae-hyuk, cellist Song Young-hoon, and violinist Kim Chee-yun will be the soloists at this concert. Tickets cost 10,000 to 40,000. WeLoveU Foundation held its 20th New Life Family Walkathon on May 6 in celebration of the International Day of Families on May 15 established by the United Nations. This walkathon was conducted along with the “Save the World” Vision Proclamation at the Peace Square of the Seoul Olympic Park, being attended by 6,000 people from the capital regions. Through this year's walkathon, the WeLoveU help 135 domestic underprivileged families and multicultural families, 4 homes for child abuse victims, and victims of the forest fire that recently took place in Gangwondo Province, Korea; and it helps vulnerable social groups such victims, refugees, and women in 11 countries, including Mozambique, Zambia, Laos, Bangladesh, Jordan, and Iraq.Through the “Save the World” Vision Proclamation, the WeLoveU encouraged people from all walks of life to participate in it.
