MuseumsThe Fiftieth Anniversary Exhibition of MMCA Korea The Square: Art and Society 1900-2019 National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea Until Feb. 9, 2020The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) was established in 1969 to showcase the artwork of contemporary artists in Korea as well as bring in works of artists abroad. This year marks its 50th anniversary, and to commemorate, the MMCA is hosting this exhibition across its Deoksu Palace, Gwacheon and Seoul branches. The Seoul branch will focus on the theme of the “square,” which represents a space for “solidarity, division, and utter confusion.” The exhibition will feature various mediums of art including installations and photography. Clarinetist Kim Han will be one of the next performers featured in this series. /Courtesy of Kumho Art Hall Yonsei ⓒ Sangwook LeeClassical ConcertsBeautiful Thursday Concert Series: Kim Han and Ilya Rashkovskiy Kumho Art Hall YonseiNov. 21The Kumho Art Hall is featuring a performer every Thursday to spread classical music culture in Korea. The next performance will feature clarinetist Kim Han from South Korea and pianist Ilya Rashkovskiy from Russia. Kim first picked up the clarinet at age 10 and debuted as a soloist at age 13. Currently he plays for the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and studies at Musikhochschule Lubeck. Rashkovskiy also began playing the piano at a young age and showed a penchant for composing since childhood. He has performed as a soloist with many renowned ensembles such as the National Orchestra of Belgium and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. At this concert, the two musicians will play works by Arnold, Mantovani and Brahms among other composers. Tickets cost 40,000 won.
