Netflix comedy 'Husbands in Action' promises big laughs, chemistry

The Netflix movie "Husbands in Action" is an action-comedy that follows the hijinks of a rescue operation put together by the ex-husband and current husband of a woman kidnapped by a criminal organization, according to director Park Gyu-tae as he introduced the film, Monday. "I've focused on situational comedy from clashing groups in my past works, but the biggest difference in this film is the action," Park said during a press conference in Seoul. The director, known for the 2022 comedy "6/45," added that the action sequences unfolding across various locations will be a key point for the audience to watch. The movie follows a desperate rescue mission by the elite narcotics detective and ex-husband Choong-shik (Jin Sun-kyu) who teams up with his former wife's handsome young veterinarian husband Min-seok (Gong Myung). Together they chase down a criminal group that has kidnapped Shi-nae (Kang Han-na), Min-seok's current and Choong-shik's former spouse. Throughout the movie, the two leads try to overcome their awkward relationship to navigate a series of dangerous situations while fighting

How BLACKPINK's Jennie uses star power to promote Korean heritage

As her global profile expands, Jennie of K-pop juggernaut BLACKPINK is increasingly weaving Korean language and heritage into her solo work — not as decorative references, but as core elements of her contemporary, signature aesthetic. That artistic vision was fully realized last week at the 2025 Melon Music Awards (MMA), where she won three honors including Record of the Year. But beyond the trophies, it was her solo performance built around Korean imagery and visual motifs that captured the most attention. At the ceremony, Jennie performed rearranged versions of "Seoul City," "ZEN" and "like JENNIE," all from her March album "Ruby," her first full-length studio release. Costume and stage design played a central role in shaping the performance’s thematic arc. The performance opened with "Seoul City," in which she appeared beneath a 15-meter veil inscribed with Hangeul, the Korean alphabet, set against stage visuals drawn from the deep blue of the Korean national flag. To bring this vision to life, Jennie collaborated once again with Korean fashion label LEJE, which previously created

'Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight' shows romance building daily despite memory loss

The upcoming teen romance film “Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight” focuses on the delicate process of how love builds over time, carrying a brighter tone than the original novel, according to its director Kim Hye-young. "I enjoyed the original novel. Especially the line that 'the feeling of liking someone is rooted in the senses' really resonated with me. I loved the idea that even if memories fade, the sensory experience of falling in love is never truly forgotten," Kim said following the movie's premiere at a theater in Seoul, Monday. Based on Japanese author Misaki Ichijo's 2020 novel of the same title, the film tells the story of Seo-yoon (Shin Si-a), who loses her memory every day, and Jae-won (Choo Young-woo), who replaces her lost memories every day. The novel was first adapted into a Japanese film in 2022, which also became a hit in Korea, garnering 1.21 million admissions. A musical adaptation also graced Korean stages earlier this year. The director said she felt pressured because the original story was so famous, but she really wanted to tell it from a Ko

Lee Jun-ho returns as 'pay-to-power' hero in ‘Cashero’

Netflix’s latest Korean series “Cashero” flips the script on the conventional superhero formula, delivering an everyday hero story about a man whose cash-dependent powers force him to choose between real-world pressures and helping those in need — burdens that weigh heavier than epic villains or cosmic threats. "‘Cashero’ is an everyday supernatural series where an ordinary person uses superpowers to protect their daily life," its director Lee Chang-min said during a press conference in Seoul, Monday. “I wanted to differentiate this from existing hero stories. Rather than a battle between superheroes, I wanted to create a hero where an ordinary person fights using their abilities." Cashero tells the story of Sang-ung (Lee Jun-ho), an ordinary public servant struggling to cover wedding costs and housing expenses, who suddenly acquires a power that grows stronger with the amount of cash he holds in his hands. He grapples with the choice between his living expenses and his superpowers, blending realistic human struggles with the surreal events unfolding in this unrealistic wor

Japanese woman booked for attempting to break into BTS member Jung Kook's home

A Japanese woman in her 50s has been booked on suspicion of attempting to break into the home of BTS member Jung Kook, police said Monday. The woman, who is suspected of trying multiple times to open the keypad door lock of Jung Kook's home in Seoul's Yongsan Ward between Nov. 12 and 14, was booked last week on charges of attempted housebreaking and stalking, according to the Yongsan police station. An investigation is under way, though the suspect has not been questioned as she lives overseas, they said. Earlier, a Korean woman in her 40s was referred to the prosecution on charges of housebreaking and stalking after she broke into the parking lot at Jung Kook's home in August. Meanwhile, a Chinese woman in her 30s was also caught trying to break into his home in June, but prosecutors decided not to file charges against her.

Aespa’s Winter posts photos with no 'couple tattoo' amid Jung Kook dating rumors

Winter of aespa has resurfaced on social media, drawing fresh attention amid ongoing dating rumors linking her to BTS’ Jung Kook — this time over what fans say is the disappearance of a supposed “couple tattoo.” On Sunday, Winter uploaded several photos to her personal social media account without any caption. In the images, she wears a black and gold dress that highlights her refined, elegant image. Her doll-like facial features and slender silhouette quickly caught fans’ attention, with many focusing less on the outfit itself and more on what was no longer visible. The post follows aespa’s appearance a day earlier at the Melon Music Awards 2025, held Saturday afternoon at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. During the red carpet event, Winter appeared with her arm tattoo fully covered — the same tattoo that had fueled speculation about a possible matching design with Jung Kook. In the newly uploaded photos, no visible trace of the tattoo could be found, reigniting online debate. Winter and Jung Kook were recently swept up in dating rumors driven largely by fan speculation on soci

High-profile K-drama couple Kim Woo-bin and Shin Min-a marry after 10-year relationship

Actors Kim Woo-bin and Shin Min-a, one of the entertainment industry’s most high-profile couples, tied the knot Saturday after a decade-long relationship. The two held a private wedding ceremony Saturday afternoon at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, attended only by immediate family members, relatives and close friends. Actor Lee Kwang-soo, a longtime friend of Kim, serves as the host of the ceremony. Last month, their agency AM Entertainment announced the marriage in an official statement, saying the couple “promised to become lifelong partners based on the deep trust built over many years together,” and asking the public to send “warm support and blessings” for their future. Kim also shared handwritten letters with fans on the same day through his fan café. “I am getting married. With the person I have shared a long time with, I am now building a family and trying to walk forward together,” he wrote. “I would be grateful if you could support us so that the path we walk becomes even warmer.” The couple, who have a five-year age difference, first met in 2015 while working as

Min Hee-jin says she will launch a boy band, dismisses NewJeans rivalry as auditions flood in

Min Hee-jin, former Ador CEO and the head of newly founded agency OOAK Records, has publicly addressed her next move in the K-pop industry, confirming plans to launch a boy band while firmly rejecting any notion of creating a rival to NewJeans. Appearing live on YTN Radio’s program “Kim Jun-woo’s News Head-On” on Friday, Min spoke openly about her future plans and responded directly to questions surrounding her departure from Ador and her association with NewJeans, the globally popular girl group she previously produced. Min founded OOAK Records in October last year and has since completed corporate registration. Recently, the agency drew attention after opening applications for a closed, in-person audition in partnership with a well-known dance academy — a move that quickly sparked speculation and online buzz about the kind of group she might be preparing. When the host asked whether the new label was preparing to debut a boy group, Min answered candidly. “There’s no reason for me to create a rival to NewJeans,” she said. “If you look at my creative style and the flow
