Netflix comedy 'Husbands in Action' promises big laughs, chemistry

The Netflix movie "Husbands in Action" is an action-comedy that follows the hijinks of a rescue operation put together by the ex-husband and current husband of a woman kidnapped by a criminal organization, according to director Park Gyu-tae as he introduced the film, Monday. "I've focused on situational comedy from clashing groups in my past works, but the biggest difference in this film is the action," Park said during a press conference in Seoul. The director, known for the 2022 comedy "6/45," added that the action sequences unfolding across various locations will be a key point for the audience to watch. The movie follows a desperate rescue mission by the elite narcotics detective and ex-husband Choong-shik (Jin Sun-kyu) who teams up with his former wife's handsome young veterinarian husband Min-seok (Gong Myung). Together they chase down a criminal group that has kidnapped Shi-nae (Kang Han-na), Min-seok's current and Choong-shik's former spouse. Throughout the movie, the two leads try to overcome their awkward relationship to navigate a series of dangerous situations while fighting

Ahn Hyo-seop of 'KPop Demon Hunters' to open new year on ‘The Tonight Show’

Korean actor Ahn Hyo-seop is set to begin 2026 on one of the biggest stages in American television, as he will appear on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” marking what industry observers see as a symbolic milestone in his growing global influence. The program, widely regarded as one of the most influential late-night talk shows in the United States, has featured world-renowned figures across entertainment, politics and sports. Ahn’s invitation is being viewed as a sign that his international presence has expanded far beyond K-drama fandom. Ahn has spent the past year juggling an intense slate of projects, including the Netflix film “KPop Demon Hunters,” the feature film “Omniscient Reader,” and filming for the upcoming SBS drama “Sold Out Again Today.” “KPop Demon Hunters,” in which Ahn voiced the lead character Jinu, became an unexpected breakout hit. The animated film surpassed 500 million global views within 27 weeks of its release and has been listed among Netflix’s most-watched original films. The title also earned major critical recognition,

V spends his 30th birthday quietly in BTS practice studio — and fans think it hints at a comeback

BTS member V spent his 30th birthday not at a flashy party or in a luxury venue, but inside the familiar space of the group’s practice studio — a choice that has drawn warm reactions and curiosity from fans. V posted several photos and clips on Dec. 30, writing, “1230. The members and my friends really took care of me, so I was happy. Next year, let’s spend it with ARMY.” The photos show V smiling with BTS members in a rehearsal studio, while videos capture the group cheering and celebrating his birthday together. V, born Dec. 30, 1995, turned 30 this year. Many fans found it meaningful and slightly ironic that he celebrated such a milestone birthday in the same place where BTS has spent countless hours rehearsing. The setting also sparked speculation among global fans that the group may be preparing for activities soon. Korean media noted that spending time in the practice studio suggests their comeback may not be far away. V also shared moments of celebration with close friends, adding to the warm and personal mood of the post. BTS recently completed its military service hiat

Veteran actor Ahn Sung-ki is in critical condition and receiving treatment in an intensive care unit of a hospital, his agency said Wednesday. Ahn was moved to the emergency room as of around 4 p.m. Tuesday after collapsing while choking on food at his home. During a 2022 interview, he revealed that he had been battling with blood cancer since 2019. ReviewDisney+ K-drama 'Made in Korea': Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung in slick period political thriller

Lead cast: Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung Following their awards juggernaut "Harbin" last year, star Hyun Bin and director Woo Min-ho have teamed up on another historical drama, this time for the small screen, with the Disney+ political thriller "Made in Korea." Boasting lavish production values and a deep bench of talent — including Jung Woo-sung, who cameoed in "Harbin" — the series explores the murky intersection of the executive and judicial branches of the authoritarian government that cast a shadow over 1970s South Korea. Hyun plays political operator Baek Ki-tae, who cuts a sharp figure in slick suits and is introduced in Japan as a suave businessman. In reality, he is an ambitious operative of the KCIA (Korean Central Intelligence Agency), the shadowy organisation enforcing South Korean President Park Chung-hee's will and infamously torturing political dissidents. The first episode may induce deja vu, as it places Ki-tae on Japan Airlines Flight 351, the commercial airliner hijacked by Japanese communists defecting to North Korea in 1970. These events were recently depicted in the Ne

Fairness questioned as Ador drops Danielle from NewJeans, seeks damages

More than a year after a contract dispute first erupted between K-pop girl group NewJeans and its agency Ador, tensions have reignited just as hopes for reconciliation appeared within reach. Although all five members expressed a desire to return to the agency following a court ruling that upheld their exclusive contracts, Ador has now terminated its agreement with member Danielle and filed a lawsuit seeking damages — a move that undermines the possibility of a full-group comeback and raises concerns about coercive tactics in the K-pop industry. In a statement released Monday, Ador said it determined that it would be "difficult to continue" Danielle’s activities as a member of NewJeans and confirmed that it submitted a complaint the same day seeking compensation for damages. The agency did not disclose the amount being claimed, nor specify the contractual grounds for the termination. The decision follows an Oct. 30 court ruling that confirmed the validity of exclusive contracts between Ador and all five NewJeans members, a judgment that placed the agency in a legally advantageous pos

After ‘NewJeans expulsion’ notice, Ador files $31 mil. lawsuit against Danielle, Min Hee-jin

Ador, the agency behind K-pop girl group NewJeans, has filed a massive damages lawsuit against member Danielle following its move to terminate her exclusive contract — and the case has been assigned to the same Seoul court division that previously handled the high-profile legal battle between HYBE and former Ador CEO Min Hee-jin. According to Korean outlet Newsis on Tuesday, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 31 has been assigned to hear Ador’s lawsuit seeking contract penalties and damages from Danielle, a member of her family and Min. The company is demanding about 43.1 billion won ($31 million) in compensation. The date for the first hearing has not yet been set, the report said. Ador announced Monday that it had notified Danielle of contract termination, saying it had determined that continuing with her as a NewJeans member and Ador artist was no longer possible. The company also said it intends to pursue legal responsibility against one of Danielle’s family members and Min, claiming they played a major role in triggering the dispute and delaying the group’s

After ‘NewJeans expulsion’ notice, how big could Danielle’s legal penalty be?

K-pop fans were left stunned after Ador — the label behind girl group NewJeans — notified member Danielle that she is being removed from the group, while signaling its plans to pursue legal action over alleged contract violations. Lawyers in Korea say the financial penalties tied to the dispute could exceed 100 billion won ($74 million) under industry-standard formulas. Ador said on Monday that it had "determined it is difficult to continue with Danielle as a NewJeans member and Ador artist," adding that it had notified her of contract termination. The company also said it intends to "hold legally accountable" a member of Danielle’s family and former Ador CEO Min Hee-jin, whom it claims played a role in triggering the dispute and delaying the group’s return. Although Ador did not disclose a specific penalty figure, Korean legal commentators say the potential sum could be enormous. According to attorney Ahn Hee-chul of law firm DLG, who recently discussed the case on a YouTube show, damages in standard Korean entertainment contracts are typically calculated by multiplying an artis
