Korean actress auditions for'Avengers 2'

By Park Si-sooThe sequel of Hollywood action flick Avengers will be filmed in Korea possibly featuring a Korean actress.The film’s producer, Marvel Universe, said at least 10 to 15 minutes of “Avengers 2: Age of Ultron” will take place in Seoul’s Gangnam area and Gyeonggi Province.The domestic shooting of the movie is said to take place in April or May. Other locations for shooting include New York, London and locations throughout South Africa, it said.One of Korea’s top production teams has already been chosen to work with the firm’s crew, it added.Korean actress Kim Soo-hyun is said to have met with Marvel officials to discuss her appearing in the film as a villain.Her management agency said nothing has been decided yet. The 29-year-old featured in several TV dramas including a role as a secretary to Daniel Henney’s character in the television drama “Plan B.”She however is not a widely-recognized performer. Kim Jang-hoon to sing at Carnival of Venice

Kim Jang-hoonK-pop singer Kim Jang-hoon will perform at the Carnival of Venice, the Italian city’s largest festival, next month.According to his management company, Kim was chosen as the main artist for the carnival. The singer who is also known for his promotion of the Dokdo islets and charity work will perform with a troupe of Samulnori, a genre of Korean traditional percussion, on the main stage of the Piazza San Marco on Feb. 27. They will present a diverse repertoire, including “Arirang.”Feb. 27 is designated as “Giovedi Grasso,” or a holiday for the highlight of the carnival, and Kim is the first Asian musician to perform on the occasion, according to Kim’s management company.“Kim Jang-hoon will be the first Asian singer to perform at the event, where world-class musicians such as the Rolling Stones and Elton John had been invited before,” a spokesman for the company said.The organizing committee invited Kim after a six-month evaluation process.“The theme of the carnival this year is ‘wonder and fantasy nature.’

Girl groups' exposure faces TV censorship

Singer Rain departs for Hollywood

Singer RainSinger Rain wrapped up promotional activities for his track “La Song” and departed Sunday for Hollywood where he will soon start filming “The Prince.”“La Song” is part of the sixth full-length album, which the 31-year-old released after completing his compulsory military service last year. Rain performed the song with the veteran trot singer Tae Jin-ah over the weekend on television.“The Prince” — starring Bruce Willis and John Cusack — will be the singer’s third Hollywood film, following his appearances in “Speed Racer” and “Ninja Assassin.” Rain is also reportedly set to audition for yet-another Hollywood feature.
