'2 Days & 1 Night' members reunite for 'New Journey to the West'

By Kim Jae-heunKey members of the hit reality-variety show “2 Days & 1 Night” are back together to star in a new reality show “New Journey to the West” that will premiere on Friday 10 a.m. on Korea’s leading portal site Naver’s tvcast.The latest internet variety show is based on the Chinese ancient classic novel “Journey to the West,” where the four entertainers _ Kang Ho-dong, Lee Seung-gi, Eun Ji-won and Lee Soo-guen _ travel to Xi’an in Shaanxi Province, China, with each playing a role of the novel’s characters of the Pig Guy, the Master, the Monk Sha and the Monkey King.“It is our first time to make internet content,” said producer Na Young-suk during the press conference at 63 Convention, in Yeouido, Seoul, Tuesday. “I was eating dinner with Lee Seung-gi, who suggested traveling with our old friends (of 2 Days & 1 Night) and I thought it would be a lot of fun to share this with the viewers. The host of “I Want to Know That,” with help from MC Kim Jae-dong, entertained the audience with his friendly, persuasive chat.Kim Sang-jung from  “I Want to Know That”When singer Hani from idol girl band EXID showed up, Kim drew laughter by not being able to control his joy at meeting her.He also told behind-the-scenes stories from his mystery show. He revealed how he felt he had confronted the ghost of a homicide victim when he visited the victim’s burial site to investigate unanswered questions.

Singer and actor Park Hyung-sikSinger and actor Park Hyung-sik will be a guest on popular entertainment program “Three Meals a Day: Fishing Village 2,” which will start filming Sept. 5.Park, a member of ZE: A , will join actors Cha Seung-won and Yoo Hae-jin on the remote island of Manjae in South Jeolla Province. The first episode is expected to air in October.“Three Meals a Day: Fishing Village 2” is the second season of the spin-off program from “Three Meals a Day _ Jeongseon,” with Lee Seo-jin and K-pop singer Ok Taec-yeon.The show puts the stars into an environment where they produce and create three meals a day using the natural ingredients of their settings.

The wedding will be at a wedding hall in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul.The couple were featured on the cover of the August issue of fashion magazine InStyle wearing wedding attire.The man, whose name has not been revealed, is reportedly studying for a masters of business administration at a university, according to media reports.Lee met her fiance early this year when her younger sibling introduced him to her. Families of the couple met in June and endorsed the wedding, the reports added.Lee debuted in 2003 in the epic Korean film “Untold Scandal” and has been working since in movies and TV series. Her latest work was the TV drama series “Wild Chives and Soybean Soup” (2014) on JTBC.

Poster for "New Journey to the West""New Journey to the West," a much anticipated entertainment program by tvN, will be broadcast on Chinese web portal qq.com, the South Korean cable network said Monday.It will be streamed there and on South Korean portal website Naver simultaneously, tvN said.In South Korea, the first episode is scheduled to air at 10 a.m. Friday, local time.The two trailers posted on Naver last week have garnered a combined 2.4 million views so far.The program reunites comedians Kang Ho-dong, Lee Soo-geun, actor Lee Seung-gi and rapper Eun Ji-won, a dream team from the first season of "Two Days, One Night" on KBS 2TV five years ago."New Journey to the West" was inspired by "Journey to the West," a 16th-century Chinese novel. The four cast members will each play the role of one of the novel's four main characters, the network said.Its first few episodes were shot in the central Chinese city of Xi'an, although producers have not mentioned the next filming location. Known as a “free-spirited” rapper, she kept smiling when officers pointed out her faults and reprimanded her for standing at ease when she should have been standing at attention.Media reports have lampooned her.  Introduced in August 2014, the segment features a star who struggles more than others because of poor Korean.Singer G.Na from the first season and rapper Amber from idol girl band “f(X)” from the second season were good examples.
