To prevent overcrowding
Fair Trade Commission (FTC) Chairman Kim Sang-jo, left, and Korea Association of the Convenience Store Industry Chairman Cho Yoon-sung show a document indicating FTC approval of the association's voluntary restraint agreement during an event on Yeouido, Seoul, Tuesday. Under the accord, convenience store brands, including GS25, CU, 7-Eleven, Ministop and C Space agreed to restrict opening new branches closer than 50 meters to 100 meters from other brand name stores. This is the first time the FTC has approved such a voluntary agreement. It will affect approximately 96 percent of convenience stores across the country. / Courtesy of FTC
