Seoul Drag Parade brings queer culture out of nightclubs, into daylight

Gojoseon was founded over 4,000 years ago, after a bear in a cave ate garlic and mugwort until she transformed into a human. Although this legend gives us a statutory holiday in Korea, there aren't that many street celebrations held for this fabled story. Cambodia's Japan Guitar Shop comes to Zandari

One of the dozens of acts coming from overseas for this year's Zandari Festa is Japan Guitar Shop, a band that comes not from nearby Japan but from Southeast Asia's Cambodia. Ahead of Oct. 3, which marks National Foundation Day, David A. Mason will give a lecture for the Royal Asiatic Society (RAS) Korea on Korea's legendary founding king, Dangun Wanggeom. Dangun was the founder of Gojoseon, the first Korean kingdom, in 2333 BCE. Said to be the "Son of Heaven," he according to legend, was birthed by a bear who had been transformed into a woman.
