LG Uplus to launch AI-driven anti-phishing technology

LG Uplus is introducing a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered security feature for its ixi-O AI agent, in response to the growing number of cases of voice phishing and fraud crimes using AI-driven deepfake technologies. According to the company, the new anti-deepvoice technology will be integrated into ixi-O on Monday. The technology was unveiled at this year’s MWC tech trade show in March. The new technology, which the company is commercializing for the first time globally as an on-device AI, detects voices made or manipulated by AI during a call and alerts the user within five seconds. It aims to help identify and prevent voice phishing crimes using AI-generated voices to impersonate acquaintances or stage fake hostage situations to extort money. “AI-generated voices may not be noticeable to our ear, but they often contain abnormal high-frequency noise or unnatural variations in pronunciations that differ from real humans. Upstage, FuriosaAI team up to launch Korea-developed NPU-powered generative AI

Two local artificial intelligence (AI) startups, Upstage and FuriosaAI, announced Wednesday that they are partnering to collaborate on a neural processing unit (NPU)-based generative AI business, signing a memorandum of understanding. Upstage will optimize and deploy its generative large language model (LLM) Solar on RNGD, the next-generation NPU developed by AI semiconductor company FuriosaAI. SK Telecom to pilot Rebellions NPU for AI services

SK Telecom is joining hands with local artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor startup Rebellions to integrate its neural processing unit (NPU) into core AI services, making a major step toward building a self-reliant AI ecosystem in Korea. Kakao's AI service turns into nonfactor just month after launch

SK Telecom to resume accepting new subscribers

SK Telecom will be allowed to resume new subscription services starting Tuesday, following a two-month suspension, the Ministry of Science and ICT said Monday. The suspension was imposed after a massive data breach involving users’ universal subscriber identity modules (USIM) in April. Industry ministry allocates $100 mil. to boost AI, renewable energy
