The wives of Russia’s World Cup footballers posed for men’s magazine Maxim in support of their husbands vowing to impress at world sport’s biggest event.
Victoria Lopyreva (wife of the forward Fedor Smolov), Maria Eshchenko (the defender Andrey Eshchenko) and Inna Zhirkov (the halfback Yury Zhirkov) looked stunning in minimalist textile in the magazine’s Russian edition for next month.
In the story that was published as an excuse to use the photo, Lopyreva told Maxim she plans to go to Brazil to cheer for the team. But she probably wasn’t aware at the time of the interview that her husband didn’t make Fabio Capello’s final 23-man roster.
Russia is grouped with Korea, Belgium and Algeria in Group H.
