Suwon FC forward Pablo Sabbag has earned his first Player of the Month award in the top Korean football league.

The Korea Professional Football League (K League) said Wednesday Sabbag was voted its Player of the Month for August in the top-flight K League 1.

Sabbag, a Colombian native of Syrian descent, is the third straight foreign player to win the top monthly prize, after Jesse Lingard of FC Seoul for July and Andrea Compagno of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors for June.

The winner was chosen based on votes by the K League's technical study group (accounting for 60 percent), fans voting on the K League website (25 percent) and players of EA Sports FC Online (15 percent) by Electronic Arts (EA) Sports, the league's official video game partner.

Sabbag beat three other candidates in all three categories and finished with the total voting points of 42.04.

Sabbag scored against Daejeon Hana Citizen FC in a 3-2 loss on Aug. 10 and netted twice to help his club beat Ulsan HD FC 4-2 six days later. Sabbag was named the Man of the Match and also the Player of the Week.

Sabbag was also a candidate for the monthly honor for July.

For the season, Sabbag is second overall in the league with 13 goals.
