487th Turtle Marathon

The 487th Turtle Marathon, hosted by the Hankook Ilbo and The Korea Times, will be held this Saturday on Mount Nam in Seoul. This time, multiracial families are invited to the walkathon.
The six-kilometer-long event will begin at Baekbeom Plaza at 9 a.m.
Special guests will be Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, former conservative lawmaker Jasmine Lee, Sungkyunkwan University professor Ekaterina Popova and Moon Mi-ran from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
The walkathon will also feature a performance by Filipino band Rainbow Duo.
The organizers will provide participants with free drinks during the race and give away prizes such as seaweed packs, air purifiers, running shoes and tickets to a traditional Korean music performance through a lucky draw.
It's not mandatory to sign up in advance for the walkathon but necessary to win prizes. Visit

Grade school students can receive certification for three hours of volunteer work if they register at
and sign themselves in at the marathon basecamp.
