Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae medaled in all four individual apparatus finals at the Bulgaria World Cup after winning her first gold this season in the clubs final, Sunday (KST).
Son collected 18.550 points in the clubs final during the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG) competition in Sofia, just 0.1 points ahead of her Ukrainian rival Ganna Rizatdinova.
This is her second gold medal this season, following a top finish in the ball final at the Espoo World Cup in Finland in February.
Son won silvers in both the hoop and ribbon finals, and took bronze in ball. She garnered 18.650 points in the hoop event, a World Cup personal best, and in ribbon finished second with a score 0.450 points short of Russian Yana Kudryavtseva’s 18.900 points. Rizatdinova won bronze with 18.100 points. In ball, Son finished third with 18.550 points.
Son achieved her personal best and clinched a bronze medal in the individual all-around competition at the FIG World Cup, scoring a career-high 74.200 points in total from hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon routines in events held over Friday and Saturday.
With medals in all four apparatus finals, Son heightened her hopes for the upcoming Rio Olympics.
She will next compete at the Guadalajara World Cup in Spain next month.
