Kim Bi-o wins SK Telecom Open, hopes to regain PGA berth
Young Korean golfer Kim Bi-o won the SK Telecom Open Golf Championship on Sunday, cruising to his second victory in a week and hoping to regain a place on the PGA tour.
The 21-year-old Kim shot a five-under-par 67 in the fourth and final round at the Pinx Golf Club on the southern resort island of Jeju, the fourth stop on the 2012 OneAsia circuit, for a final 18-under 270. He received 200 million won ($170,940) in prize money.
Park Sang-hyun, 29, finished second with a final 15-under 273.
"It seems that efforts to focus on my play led to a good result," Kim told reporters. "Carrying the momentum from this victory, I will try to produce a good result at the Nationwide Tour when I return to the United States."
"I will re-enter the PGA Tour after gaining a place in the top 25 of the Nationwide Tour within this year," Kim said.
On May 13, Kim won the GS Caltex Maekyung Open Golf Championship in Seoul, the third OneAsia stop, earning 200 million won.
K.J. Choi was ranked 13th with a final four-under 284 at the SK Telecom Open. (Yonhap)
