Korean swimming icon Park Tae-hwan will travel to Brisbane, Australia, Saturday for a training session.

It will be the Beijing Olympic gold medalist's first of three sessions at the St. Peters Western Swimming Club, where he will learn from Australian head coach Michael Bohl.

Bohl will coach Park until he swims in the 200-, 400- and 1,500-meter events at a competition in Sydney from Feb. 12 to 14.

He will be joined by national team head coach Roh Min-sang, physical trainer Kwon Tae-hyun and medical trainer Park Chul-kyu, as well as another national team swimmer, Kang Yong-hwan.

Roh and Bohl will collaborate on every detail of Park's training schedule.

Park will return to Brisbane for a session from April to June and again in September, in preparation for the Asian Games in Guangzhou in November.

"I want to prove myself before the Asian Games," he said. "Effort never betrays. I want to succeed for everyone.

"My long-term target is the London Olympics, but right now I want to concentrate on the Asian Games. I want to get the results I want."
