Royster Invited to Obamas Inauguration
Lotte Giants manager Jerry Royster has been invited to Barack Obama's inauguration.
The Busan-based baseball club said Monday that its American headman, scheduled to come to Korea Thursday, would be present at the inauguration on Jan. 20, 2009 (Jan. 21 KST) and postponed his arrival to Jan. 22.
The 56-year-old said he was honored to attend the historical and significant moment, according to the team, but it did not know the reason for the invitation.
Royster, the first non-Korean boss in Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) history, is known to be familiar with President George Bush, a former Texas Rangers owner, and met former Secretary of State Colin Powell when he visited Korea last April.
Powell backed Obama during his presidential campaign.
