The nation's most prominent golfer, Choi ``Tank'' Kyoung-ju, jumped to sixth in the world rankings, according to an announcement Tuesday.

The 38-year-old moved two steps up from his previous position since last week in the weekly report of the Official Golf Ranking Web site.

Choi became the first Korean to reach the quarterfinal of the Accenture Match Play Championship, which was won by Tiger Woods. His entry to the quarterfinal secured him the ranking jump.

Choi earned $260,000 in prize money from the tournament for a total of $1.53 million this year, closely following Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in the prize money rankings.

During his career on the U.S. Professional Golfers Association tour, Choi has won seven tournaments, the most recent being the Sony Open in January.

The golfers who make up the top five are Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker, Ernie Els, and Adam Scott.
