New KBS chief apologizes

KBS' new President and CEO Park Min, third from left, alongside the news outlet's executives, apologizes to the public for alleged biased reporting under the former CEO that undermined fairness and led to loss of trust, during a press conference at the company's headquarters in Seoul, Tuesday. On Monday, Park unexpectedly sacked a radio host and a news anchor, which prompted the opposition parties to urge him to step down from the post, claiming that his appointment was aimed at taking control of the public broadcaster. On Sunday, President Yoon Suk Yeol approved the proposed appointment of the former newspaper journalist as the new KBS chief, without the adoption of a parliamentary confirmation hearing report amid strong opposition over conflicting opinions on the selection process.
