Anti-corruption watchdog extends cooperation with UNDP to spread Korea's policies to developing countries

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) announced Friday that it has extended its cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The ACRC first signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the U.N. affiliate in charge of sustainable development in December 2015 to share Korea's anti-corruption policies with developing countries. With the extension signed Dec. 1, the ACRC will continue to cooperate with the UNDP through December 2023.
“I am confident that with the extension of the MOU, Clean Portal, Korea's anti-corruption digital platform, can provide practical help to developing countries to enhance their integrity levels," ACRC Vice Chairperson and Secretary General An Sung-uk said.
An met with Anne Juepner, acting director of the UNDP Seoul Policy Center, in November to discuss the extension of the MOU and further areas of cooperation.
At the meeting, the ACRC and the UNDP reaffirmed the efficacy of their collaboration in which the ACRC provides anti-corruption policy information and the UNDP shares it with developing countries through its global network.
They agreed to share Korea's know-how on digital anti-corruption policies as a new area of cooperation. Through that collaboration, the two institutions will provide assistance to developing countries in utilizing digital technologies to aid in anti-corruption measures.
The ACRC will also share its knowhow on digital anti-corruption policies, such as its Clean Portal, which is an online platform allowing citizens to report a wide range of acts of corruption and violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.
The two institutions agreed to start sharing the Clean Portal system with developing countries from next year.
