Seoul's subway will operate until 2 a.m. on Feb. 5 and 6 ― last two days of the five-day Lunar New Year holiday ― to transport holidaymakers coming from their rural hometowns.
Buses on nine key routes will run until 3:45 a.m., while nearly 3,000 taxis will be up for service overnight.
The Lunar New Year holiday is one of the major holidays here, during which millions of people travel to their hometowns to catch up with family members. This year, the holiday runs Feb. 2-6.
Seoul City has announced a list of hospitals and pharmacies available during the holiday. The city government also will run a situation room to monitor traffic and other issues around the clock and respond quickly, if necessary.
Free food offerings to unprivileged people will continue as usual.
