Nam Kyun-ah, a flight attendant of T'way Air, has been awarded an appreciation plaque symbolizing her dedication after flying for over 5,000 hours. “I am grateful to receive this award especially for the work I love. The 5,000 flight hours seem to have gone by in a flash. Now, my goal is to achieve 10,000 hours,” she said.
T'way Air is the only low cost carrier in the country that hands out awards to flight attendants for exceeding 5,000 flight hours.
Nam was among 33 flight attendants who have flown more than 5,000 hours since T'way Air was established in August 2010. They received the award in July altogether.
Nam's love for flying and passion for helping others was the decisive factor in choosing the career, she said.
“The friendly atmosphere here at T'way Air has solidified my loyalty to the firm,” she said. “With my passion, I will do my best to provide a safe and comfortable flight for all our passengers.”
Greeting passengers is a merit of the job, but not all flights are picture-perfect.
“There was a female passenger who had a hard time with an upset stomach so I nursed her during the flight, gave her medicine and guided her to a hospital after arriving at her destination,” she said. “After a few days she wrote a thank you letter on the company website, which made my day.”
Marking its eighth year anniversary, T'way Air went public Aug. 1, listing its name along with other powerhouses on the stock exchange.
“I would like to progress together with my company and contribute to its success, and will encourage and help my colleagues in doing the same,” Nam said.
Nam is part of the international cabin crew at T'way Air, and within the department she is in charge of emotion and human resources management.
She is also a certified service instructor and provides in-house lectures for cabin crew.
