Naturalized Nepalese woman becomes cop in South Korea

A naturalized Nepalese woman has become a police officer in South Korea.
Samjhana Rai, 28, recently passed the final stage of a state-administered police recruitment test, said Chosun University in Gwangju, where she is a senior student majoring in police administration.
She is the university's first naturalized student to pass the test.
Rai will go through pre-appointment training for eight months at the Central Police Academy and will be assigned to Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency to handle foreign affairs.
She moved to Damyang, South Jeolla Province, in October 2010 from Nepal after marrying a South Korean man. She entered the university in March 2015.
“My journey to become a police officer was long and tough,” Rai was quoted as saying in a report. “I was able to make this happen thanks to professors and friends who were always kind and supportive to me.”
