An icy cold wave swept the country Thursday, sending morning temperatures well below zero.

As of 10 a.m., the mercury in Seoul was minus 7.7, Chuncheon minus 11.1, Daejeon minus 6.2 and Busan 3.4.

Snow is expected on Friday in the central district and northern part of North Jeolla Province, extending the strong cold snap into the morning, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said.

Friday’s daytime high will rebound slightly, but temperatures will be below zero again during the weekend, the KMA said.
