The Educational Testing Service (ETS) on Wednesday awarded a total of 72 million won ($69,198) in scholarship funds to 24 Korean undergraduate and graduate students from around the country at the office of the Korea Student Aid Foundation (KOSAF), located in central Seoul.

KOSAF, established in 2009, selected the recipients. The program is called ““2014 Love Giving Scholarship (ETS TOEFL)”. Students were assessed according to their English language skills, taking into account scores they achieved in TOEIC and TOEFL. Each received 3 million won.

“ETS is committed to acknowledging and supporting Korean students as they pursue higher education and learn the English language,” said David Payne, vice president and chief operating officer of global education at ETS.

“We hope that other similar contributions toward college students will be conducted,” said Kwak Byong-sun, chairperson of the KOSAF.

ETS was founded in 1947 and, according to its website, is a non-profit organization.
