Sunfull welcomes 400 multicultural members
By Yun Suh-young
The Sunfull Movement, a non-profit organization campaigning against cyber bullying, said that 400 foreign students and members from multicultural families will participate in the movement. It will hold a welcoming ceremony for the multicultural members today at the Seoul Immigration Office located in the Yangcheon district, Seoul.
“This is the first time that members of multicultural families in Korea are joining the Sunfull Movement,” the organization said.
Founded in 2007 by Min Byoung-chul, a professor at Kunkuk University, the Sunfull Movement has pioneered campaigning against derogatory messages online and has actively encouraged people to post positive comments on the Internet. Sunfull means positive comments in Korean.
As of December this year, over 2.2 million positive comments have been posted on the Internet through the Sunfull Movement and about 2,500 elementary, middle, and high schools and organizations in Korea are now participating in the campaign.
Min founded the movement after a Korean celebrity was driven to suicide due to malicious comments online.
