Park Jae-hyun, 19, said the University of Sydney is one of top universities in the country and its reputation reflects a lot of successful alumni and outstanding teaching programs as well as close relations with blue-chip companies.

Park said that he fared well in the admission test and got enrolled at the school relatively easily.

``I got passing scores for the Cambridge International Examinations. Actually, I didn’t do much preparation for admission to my school.’’ Park said.

His admission to the university came after his long studies in the region.

Park spent his high school years in New Zealand and advanced to the Australian university last year for an engineering major. On top of its successful alumni, Park cited the university’s long history as another factor behind the reputation of the school. Also, close links with many renowned companies around the world boost the university’s global competitiveness, he said.

As Park has New Zealand citizenship, he is treated as a local student when it comes to scholarship. But he said there are few scholarships available for international students.

For his extra curricular, he is joining the ``SAE Car Team’’ at the school. His team annually designs their own racecars and competes with other universities across the country.

Regarding his future plans, Park said he wants to study at a Korean university such as KAIST as an exchange student.
