The government and the ruling People Power Party (PPP) on Thursday announced a set of support measures for the victims affected by the recent wildfires in the country's southeastern region, including the installation of temporary housing units.
The two sides agreed to swiftly set up around 2,700 temporary homes to address the urgent housing needs of the displaced residents, Kim Sang-hoon, the PPP's top policy chief, said in a press briefing following a policy meeting.
For those whose homes were destroyed in special disaster zones, loans of up to 124 million won ($84,520) will be provided at low interest rates.
The displaced victims in the special disaster zones who prefer to move into private rental housing can receive up to 130 million won in rental support, according to Kim. (Yonhap)
