Anti-corruption agency to communicate with firms

By Kim Yoo-chul

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) plans to begin a tour of eight cities, starting with Ulsan on Sept. 4, as part of its efforts to address the difficulties small firms face.

“This is aimed at resolving difficulties of small businesses and the self-employed hit by the recent worsening economic and employment environment as shown in recent weak employment data,” the ACRC said in a press release, Monday.

The ACRC said the meetings will help businesses in the cities address issues related to job creation.

“Sixty local small businesses will participate in the meeting in Ulsan on that day for chances to communicate about their pending difficulties,” the agency said, adding it will hold its onsite meetings twice a month in those areas.

“Issues that can be resolved at the meetings will be handled on site, and issues requiring further investigation and discussion will be filed as grievances with the ACRC, which then will conduct in-depth investigations and consultations with relevant authorities,” it said.

The Ministry of Employment of Labor, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development and local governments will support the Ulsan meeting.

“The ACRC will continue to be committed to resolving the difficulties of small businesses, contributing to revitalization of the areas that are at risk of employment and industrial crisis,” said Kwon Kun-sang, director general for ombudsman bureau of the ACRC.
