Former professional baseball player Oh Jae-won was arrested on drug charges Friday after the Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant for him, citing flight risk.
Oh, 39, was apprehended by police Tuesday on charges of taking drugs and using other people's names to get prescriptions for psychotropic medications.
Police said Oh partially acknowledges the charges against him.
Earlier this month, police questioned Oh about suspected drug use following a tipoff from a woman who was with him, but released him after he tested negative in a simple reagent drug test.
Oh strongly rejected his allegations at the time, officials said.
Police have since secured additional evidence and detained Oh before seeking an arrest warrant for him.
Oh spent his entire career with the Doosan Bears of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), helping them to Korean Series titles in 2015, 2016 and 2019.
He helped Korea to gold medals at the 2014 Asian Games and the 2015 World Baseball Softball Confederation Premier12. (Yonhap)
