Police detained a schizophrenic man, 23, for allegedly assaulting two police officers and an ambulance driver at his house in North Chungcheong Province early Thursday.
Chungju police said the personnel were sent at the request of the man's father to take the son to a psychiatric hospital.
He allegedly attacked them with a sharp object. The victims sustained minor injuries.
Police used a Taser to subdue the man and he was taken to hospital.
The father said his son had suffered schizophrenia since high school and was treated several times in the past.
