ANZA to host charity ball
By John Redmond
The Australia New Zealand Association (ANZA) presents the ANZA Korea Charity Ball 2018 at the Grand Hyatt on Saturday.
The evening will feature live music by Bjorn Again, the only ABBA-endorsed tribute show in the world.
The event aims to raise funds for the Jeon Jin Sang (JJS) Socio-Medical Center.
The JJS center provides home medical and palliative care and an inpatients' unit for cancer patients in the late stages of their illness.
The center also administers much-needed social consultations and help, legal assistance, kindergarten and a home work school, scholarships, support to isolated senior citizens and more.
Since 1992 JJS has become an internship place for medical and nursing students as well as for seminarians who desire to dedicate some of their time to be part of the life and work of the team.
“This year, JJS needs our help to expand the palliative care service so that patients and their families can have comfortable and appropriate care,” organizers said.
“At the moment, the hospitalization service takes place in the bedrooms of the JJS team. These rooms are obviously not fit for that purpose and cannot hold the equipment required by patients who are suffering from terminal cancer. Last spring, JJS bought the neighboring house, which needs to be demolished, rebuilt and connected to the existing center.”
ANZA is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization committed to raising funds for Korean charities.
Bjorn Again, formed in 1988 in Melbourne, Australia, is the world's most popular ABBA tribute show. The band has performed over 7,000 concerts in over 100 countries worldwide.
The evening will be from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Tickets cost 250,000 won for members and 270,000 won for non-members.
