Cannonball Statman tours Asia

Cannonball Statman, a musician from New York who is currently touring Asia, will play at Strange Fruit tonight at 9 p.m. at an event hosted by Loose Union. Grey Watson, an American musician and a permanent fixture of Seoul’s expat music scene, will join him.

Seoul GSC ‘Enternship’ Fair

Seoul Global Startup Center will host an “Enternship” Fair and networking event on Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at its building in Yongsan. AustCham Year-End Sundowner

AustCham Korea will be holding its annual Year-End Sundowner on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Australian Embassy’s Australia Centre. The event is free for members and guests. They will serve finger food and beer but guests are encouraged to bring wine. There will also be a charity raffle on the night.

Market, Mingle, Jingle flea market

For your Christmas shopping needs, Market, Mingle & Jingle, a flea market hosted by Vineworks and The Soul of Seoul blog, will bring together food, wine, live music and “artsy and artisanal” stalls at Vineworks on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Preregistration gets you two glasses of mulled wine. Paying at the door costs 5,000 won and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Korean Unwed Mothers’ Families Association (KUMFA).

Artists open studio

Seoul-based artists Da-iN and Gunhee will have an open studio on Saturday at Willoughby in Hannam-dong. They’ve also invited Annie Hong to exhibit her work as a guest artist. The open studio is an opportunity for visitors to see the artists’ processes and inspirations. Popular DJs Akimbo and Closet will provide some eclectic sounds to match the art from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

‘North Korea’s Unification Drive’ lecture

The Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch will host a lecture by B.R. Myers titled “North Korea’s Unification Drive” on Tuesday from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Myers is an international studies professor at Dongseo University in Busan and a renowned expert on North Korea. The lecture is open to the public and will take place in the second-floor Residents’ Lounge of Somerset Palace in downtown Seoul. Admission is 10,000 won for non-members and 5,000 won for students.
