Daejeon wine fest enjoys success
By John Redmond
The “2012 International Food & Wine Festival in Daejeon” that ran on the weekend centered at Expo Park was a huge success with a great variety of wine tastings and food choices.
With near perfect weather conditions, guests were generously spoilt for choice of wine, with the most popular being South African, Italian and German varieties.
Food choices, on the hand, were limited to mostly traditional Asian fare with a few exceptions, Austrian sausages and Australian fish and chips.
The Korean section of the food exhibition was focused on traditional herb and fruit drinks.
The evening music entertainment on the main stage was very upbeat, featuring female power pop band Fishing Girls supporting punk act Blitz, which were very interesting choices for the crowd of older people.
Guests were offered the chance to visit beautiful inner-city parks, such as Expo Science Park, Expo Citizens Square and Daejeon Convention Center and Daejeon Trade Exhibition Center.
Special events for children were provided including clown performances and face painting.
The countries represented included Austria, Australia, China, the Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany (6 booths), Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy (8 booths), Japan, South Africa, Spain, Uruguay, the U.S. and Uzbekistan.
Management stated the event was a bigger success than they had planned with some booths running out of samples on the first day.
