Photo contest for foreigners unveiled

Ichon Global Village Center is holding a photo contest for foreigners. The theme is “Scenery of Seoul from foreigner’s eyes.” The application period is till June 25 and is open to foreign residents in Korea.

Participants are requested to submit up to three images each. Photos must be JPG, and unreleased files (over 2560 X 1950 pixels).

Procedure of selection: The best 20 works will be on display at the Ichon Global Village Center, Ichon 1-dong Community Center, and Seoul Global Center from July through July 16.

Winner will be selected from votes by visitors.

The prizes are: 1st prize, gift certificate worth 100,000 won; 2nd prize, gift certificate worth 70,000 won; 3rd prize, gift certificate worth 50,000 won; and multiple 4th prizes,gifts worth 5,000 won.

Winners will be notified officially or contacted individually.

Summer Luau party to be held at Cafe Huh

A Luau party at International Cafe Huh on the 11th floor of the Pagoda Tower in Gangnam will be held this Friday from 6 p.m.

The theme comprises luau activities and props.

Prizes from games/raffles include Starbucks vouchers, cash and CGV movie tickets.

Admission is 10,000 won and includes leis, beer, wine and appetizers.

To get there, leave Gangnam subway station, stop 222, via exit #6. Across from McDonalds in the Citi-Cinema building.

Seoul City Improv to give show

Seoul City Improv will have an Improvisation show on Saturday, beginning 8 p.m. at the Orange Tree in Haebangchon.

The performance will run for 90 minutes with one short intermission.

To get to the Orange, go to Noksapyeong station (line 6, next to Itaewon), go out exit 2, walk down the hill, at the bottom of the hill there will be lots of kimchi pots on your left, keep left, you will get to a little area with bars and restaurants and there is a bar Phillies on the left, and a bar/restaurant Indigo on your right. Go to the second floor of Indigo. The total walk time from the subway is about 10 minutes.

No admission fee.

Children’s art lessons for 5-12 year-olds

Children from ages 5-12 can learn how to make a 3D puzzle of the Paldalmun (Hwaseong Fortress) in an art class at Seorae Global Village Center on June 28.

The class will be from 3.30 p.m.-5 p.m. and will cost 5,000 won per child.
