Seoul’s party scene is about to get moving _ literally _ over the next couple weeks, with a pair of cruises pushing off on the Han River to raise funds for great causes.
The Alive Foundation’s "AM.PM Han River Cruise Boat Party and After-party” event this Saturday will feature a wide variety of music _ from drum n’ bass to live hip-hop _ as well as comedy and a Moroccan dinner buffet.
Proceeds from the foundation’s first-ever fundraiser will go toward opening a 24-hour suicide prevention call center.
The event begins at 5 p.m. at the Yeoinaru Pier. An after-party will follow the three-hour cruise; buses to the second venue will be provided.
Tickets for the event start at 35,000 won, meal included. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page, call 010-6562-6694 or email alive.pro1@gmail.com.
On the afternoon of July 3, a rock n’ roll-themed cruise will make its way down the Han River to celebrate Canada Day and U.S. Independence Day. Featuring the party rock of the LRD Band and Fully Completely, a Tragically Hip tribute band, the cruise will raise funds for charities affiliated with the Canadian and American Women's Clubs.
A barbeque featuring burgers, brats and vegetarian options will be served alongside Ka-brew beers, and prizes will be awarded to the most patriotically-dressed guests. Buses will be available after the cruise to usher guests the second round of festivities at Rocky Mountain Tavern in Itaewon.
The Canada Day / Independence Day BBQ Riverboat Cruise will run from 12:30 to 4:30. Tickets start at 40,000 won for those who reserve a spot before June 19. For more information, visit Korea4expats.com.
