First step to activate ROK Marine's Aviation Group

The Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROKMC) has established the 1st Helicopter Squadron at its 1st Marines Division which will mainly fly the country's MUH-1 Marineon helicopter, the ROKMC headquarters announced Monday. The founding ceremony was held at a combat training field of the 1st Division in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, last Friday. The 1st Helicopter Squadron is a new amphibious utility helicopter unit replacing two aviation units with the ROKMC's 1st Division and 2nd Division, which have been disbanded. The ROKMC is planning to activate a full aviation group in 2021 with two utility helicopter squadrons and one attack helicopter squadron. Courtesy of ROKMC
