71 foreign terror suspects deported since 2010

Seventy-one foreigners have been deported since 2010 for suspected links to international terrorist groups, South Korea’s spy agency said on Thursday.

The statistics were included in a counter-terrorism report the National Intelligence Service (NIS) published before the PyeongChang Winter Olympics that begin Feb. 9 for a 17-day run.

The agency warned that the Olympics could be a target for international terrorists, especially groups or individuals linked to Islamic State (IS) or North Korea. The nation should also guard against a terrorist act by a “lone wolf” not connected to a group, it said.

“There have been 13 terrorist plots against the country since 2004, all of which were busted,” the NIS said.
