The coldest weather of this year’s autumn is expected tomorrow morning with the temperature across Korea dropping to below zero.
On the first day of November, Seoul’s morning low will drop to minus 2 degrees Celsius, while the midday high will hover around 8 degrees Celsius, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
The KMA said the temperature would drop suddenly as a cold air mass descending from northern China neared the Korean peninsula.
On Tuesday, most regions across the country will have morning lows of at least minus 5 degrees Celsius and midday highs of around 10 degrees Celsius.
Sub-zero lows are mainly expected in central regions and southern inner regions.
Suwon in Gyeonggi Province and Chuncheon in Gangwon Province will experience the coldest morning temperatures of minus 3 degrees Celsius and minus 5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The west coast of South Chungcheong Province and Honam region may even have early morning snow.
The cold is expected to continue through Wednesday before the temperature returns to normal on Thursday.
“People can feel colder than the actual temperature because of the wind chill,” a KMA official said.
“We advise them to be careful.”
On Monday, the Seoul temperature ranged between 7 to 11 degrees Celsius, with about 5mm of rain in the capital and central regions.
The temperature is expected to drop sharply after the rain.
