A thief who finished a one-year prison term has been arrested in front of the jail for an alleged 2011 crime.
Police said Tuesday they booked the man, surnamed Park, without detention for an alleged burglary in Busan on July 18, 2011.
Park had allegedly broken into a home and held the resident hostage after being spotted. Police said Park threatened to kill the resident and stole 3.83 million won ($3,380) worth of jewelry.
Although police had obtained fingerprints from the crime scene, they had not been able to find the culprit ― until they re-evaluated Park’s fingerprints at Sunchon Prison.
