Naveed Hussain new chief of UNHCR Korea

Naveed Syed Hussain has been appointed chief of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) Korean office.
Hussain, a Pakistani with British nationality, is the fourth representative of UNHCR Korea since the office expanded into a full-fledged operation in 2006. He will visit government bureaus this week, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice.
Hussain succeeds Dirk Hebecker from Germany, who has finished his three-year tenure.
Hussain started working for the United Nations in 1989 and joined UNHCR in 1993. He has worked in various UNHCR operations, including the Geneva headquarters, Yemen, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Albania and Sudan.
