Park pays respect to parents at nat'l cemetery

President Park Geun-hye visited the national cemetery earlier this week to pay homage to her parents, presidential officials said Friday.

Park made the visit to the National Cemetery in Seoul on Thursday ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, which falls on Monday, according to the Cheong Wa Dae officials.

She paid respects to her father and former President Park Chung-hee and her mother, Yook Young-su, the officials said.

Park always visits her parents' grave ahead of major holidays, including Chuseok, or the Korean equivalent of Thanksgiving.

Park made the visit alone without her staff, according to the officials. (Yonhap)
