More Seoul residents unhappy with incomes

More Seoul citizens are unsatisfied with their incomes, figures show.

According to the Seoul Institute's analysis of data from Statistics Korea, 65.6 percent of citizens felt their income was insufficient this year, a jump from 48.1 percent in 2011.

Meanwhile, those who considered their income to be more than enough shrank to 9.9 percent from 19.7 percent in 2011.

Women were unhappier than men, with 73.9 percent saying their income was insufficient, while the figure for men was 62.3 percent.

More than half (56.5 percent) of the respondents believed there would be no change in household finances next year.

If they were to live on a tighter budget, respondents said they would cut back on eating out (27.4 percent), leisure activities (16.1 percent) and buying clothes (14.1 percent).

The Statistics Korea data was based on a survey in May on 4,190 adults living in Seoul.
