Yeongdeungpo-gu tops list for attacks on police

More police have been attacked in Yeongdeungpo-gu in Seoul than in any other part of the country over the last five years.

Saenuri Party lawmaker Lee No-keun received the data from the National Police Agency, Monday.

A total of 67,059 people were arrested from 2011 until September this year for obstructing officers from carrying out their duties.

Included were people who used dangerous objects, and people who attacked officers as a group. One officer was killed.

Seoul's Yeongdeungpo-gu had the most arrests, followed by Bucheon's Wonmi-gu, Ulsan's Nam-gu, Seoul's Gwanak-gu and Seoul's Gangdong-gu.

Seoul had by far the most arrests, closely followed by Gyeonggi Province. Busan, South Gyeongsang Province and Incheon followed, albeit with a significantly reduced number.
