Busan School for the Blind sang a heartwarming song in memory of the Sewol ferry tragedy at the National Choir Competition for the Blind on Friday.

The performance was shared on Facebook by the Busan Police Department. It was titled "A special challenge", to take on the competition of forming a choir and rehearsing with the guidance of police officers.

The choir sang "My heart as the wind" ㅡ a widely sung song to remember the Sewol tragedy.

The Busan police used Braille sheet music to teach the choir the lyrics and melody over three months.

Students dressed in pink and blue polo shirts for the performance to a hushed audience.

The students took home the Excellence Award for their work.

"We cannot see what is in front of us, which is what made this challenge even more difficult compared to other people, but through practicing together, we are not afraid anymore," a choir member said.

A supervising police officer said, "It was beautiful because it came out of their own pure hearts. It wasn't demanded of them by someone else."
