Farmers' markets open at Seoul Parks, Han River

Farmers’ markets offering fresh produce from across the country will be held at parks in Seoul from this weekend.
Seoul City has organized the markets in an attempt to provide farmers in provincial areas regular opportunities to sell their produce and provide city dwellers a chance to purchase fresh, reliable produce at lower-than-retail prices.
Starting at Boramae Park in Dongjak-gu, they will continue every weekend, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On the first weekend of every month, the market will be at Seoul Innovation Park in Eunpyeong-gu. On the second weekend, the market will be at Maru Park in Gangnam-gu. On the third it will be at Boramae Park and on the fourth at Dream Forest in Gangbuk-gu. A market will also open every Sunday at Gwanghwamun Square.
Produce from 67 cities and counties across the country, including Gapyeong pine nuts, Yeongwol corn and Pyeongchang buckwheat, will be on sale 10 to 30 percent lower than retail prices.
The produce is cream of the crop, as it comes from select cities and counties that have established agreements with Seoul City, city officials said.
Markets will also open at the Han River ― every week at Ttukseom and Jamsil parks along the river and biweekly at Yeouido, Banpo, Yangwha, Mangwon and Ichon Parks.
Organic spinach and leek, as well as bean flour and sesame oil grown or produced in the city, will also be sold at Myeong-dong, Hyehwa-dong and Yangjae Citizen’s Forest once a month.
