The tomato festival, which originates in Spain, will open in Daegu this weekend.
Dalseong County of Daegu City is hosting the “2015 Dalseong Red Festival” at the Daegu National Science Museum.
The festival offers events such as a gold ring hunt, tomato throwing and tomato water gun fights. There also will be a tomato parade, spaghetti making for 500 people and tomato wine tasting
The gold ring hunt involves finding 60 chip-embedded tomatoes in a pool 12 meters wide and 30 meters long filled with eight tons of tomatoes. Prizes for contestants who find a tomato with a chip include a gold ring.
"We will make an effort so that the tomato festival becomes a representative festival of this area," a Dalseong County official said.
