Torso murder victim is Korean Chinese woman
By Lee Kyung-min
Police said Tuesday the torso of a woman found on Sunday morning along with other body parts at Sihwa Seawall in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province was that of a 42-year-old Korean Chinese, surnamed Han.
Police said they identified her by matching fingerprints from the severed hands found Tuesday with the Ministry of Justice data base.
Han was fingerprinted by the immigration service.
Police said they are trying to locate her husband who is believed to be staying here.
Earlier, detectives discovered a black plastic bag containing the victim’s missing hand and feet, along with two pairs of plastic gloves, near where the torso was found.
On Monday night, police found the victim’s head near the seawall at around 10 p.m., after receiving a call from a visitor who reported seeing “something that looked like a wig.”
The head was discovered 80 meters from where the bag containing the limbs was found.
Police suspect that the body parts might have initially been inside one plastic bag, but floated apart after being dumped into the water.
Police secured footage from 64 surveillance cameras set up near the seawall.
The torso was found near the Sihwa Seawall by a man fishing Sunday.
Police have ruled out the possibility that she was killed by an organ transplant ring because her internal organs are intact.
