Four in five people check in on their social media every day, a recent survey showed.

According to NBT Partners, a startup advertising company targeting mobile phones, 79.9 percent of the company’s 1,271 customers said they logged on at least once a day.

About 49 percent said using social media was stressful, with female respondents outnumbering males 53.9 percent to 41.2 percent.

The cause for their stress ranged from unwanted feeds (21.1 percent), excess time spent (17.9 percent) and a lack of privacy (15.5 percent).

Facebook topped the list of social media in the number of users at 50.4 percent, followed by Kakao Story (30.1 percent), Naver or Daum blogs (8.6 percent) and Instagram (5.4 percent).

Teenagers and those in their 20s used Facebook the most at 63.8 percent, while 59.9 percent of those in their 30s and 40s used Kakao Story.

Asked why they used it, 63.7 percent said it was to acquire information and knowledge. Other answers included networking with different people and communicating with people with common interests.
