By Lee Kyung-min

People feel happier when they are more educated, according to a survey released Tuesday.

The survey, conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, also found that women feel happier than men, and that the young are happier than the old.

The institute polled 3,655 people between the ages of 19 and 75 in July and August.

The respondents were asked to answer questions about their happiness, satisfaction with their lives and depression on a scale of 1 to 10.

The average point for those with bachelor’s or master’s degrees was 6.56, followed by high school graduates at 6.17 and middle school graduates at 5.58.

Women averaged 6.34, while men were at 6.06.
